The Focus COPRO’ has been launched in 2018 as a way to create synergies between the main decision-makers attending the Marché du Film and more experienced filmmakers part of the Festival de Cannes and the SFC | Rendez-vous Industry. This program highlights young talents on an international scale and supports the filmmakers on their path of feature films. Since last year, the program has been remodeled as a more effective platform, putting networking and co-production mentoring at the center of its ambitions.

The Focus COPRO’ gathers filmmakers from the current or previous editions of Cannes’ short film Selections – in Competition, Cannes’ parallel sections– as well as projects scouted all year round.

Director

Antoine Chapon (1990) is an artist and filmmaker based in Paris. His works create dynamic links and tensions between cinema, CGI animations and archives. His first film “My Own Landscapes” (2020) won the Award for Best Short Film at Visions du Réel International Film Festival and the Award for Best Short Documentary at Norwegian Short Film Festival. The film was shown at many festivals such as Palm Springs Shortfest and Sundance Film Festival.

Nehir

Nehir is a fisherman on the Evros River. Since he started dreaming about the bodies he has fished out, he became a farmer to distance himself from the river. Through a series of locations related to how Europe controls the border and deals with the bodies of refugees who have died in the river, the film weaves a connection between Nehir’s trauma, the landscape of the Evros, and the new technologies used by Greece.
