In April, we resume our activities and welcome young Portuguese filmmaker Duarte Coimbra to Bratislava. That also means Pop Up Film Residency will accommodate one Slovak “buddy” project.
We are happy to announce that the 1st Slovak Pop Up participant of 2021 is Gregor Valentovič with the feature-length fiction debut project Kids that follows the characters he introduced in his short film Kid (2019), the KVIFF Future Frames 2019 participant.

Dávid, Maja, Hana and Bažo are 27 and are best friends since the first year of grammar school in Bratislava. An inseparable quartet that grew up literally forming each other, friends who promised that no matter what happens, their friendship would last. However, now it’s only Maja Dávid is left with. They share an apartment while Maja clings to a faint hope her romantic feelings towards Dávid will somehow be reciprocated one day. But of course, they will be not, since Dávid is gay. When Maja falls in love with an adventurous traveller Sam, David becomes jealous. He finds himself in a completely new, unknown territory, all alone.
The mentor for the two projects & their filmmakers is Olmo Omerzu.
