Pop Up Film Residency is pleased to announce that The Last Dog on Earth, the debut feature by Brazilian filmmaker Nina Kopko, has been awarded a Pop Up Film Residency Award at WEMW Festival last weekend. The project will take part in a three-week Pop Up Film Residency in 2026, hosted at one of Pop Up’s international residency locations.

Produced by Vitrine Filmes and Boulevard Filmes, The Last Dog on Earth is a live-action first feature set in the near future. The film follows Luana, a forlorn rideshare driver who is just one fare away from affording her long-planned suicide. Her last passenger, however, is hiding something in his suitcase: a dog named Laika — and in this world, dogs are supposed to be extinct.

Congratulations!
