We’re thrilled to share that A SHORT SUMMER, the feature debut by Nastia Korkia, will have its World Premiere at Giornate degli Autori during this year’s Venice Film Festival.

Set during a deceptively peaceful summer, the film follows an eight-year-old girl vacationing with her grandparents while two kinds of quiet unravel: the slow dissolution of a marriage and the distant-but-present war in the northern Caucasus, seeping into everyday life.

Nastia’s project took part in the Pop Up Film Residency in Paris, held in cooperation with When East Meets West in the summer of 2022. Under the guidance of mentor Benjamin Mirguet, the film began to take shape—an intimate, sharply observed portrait of innocence colliding with a world in flux.

We’re proud to have supported Nastia on this journey. A SHORT SUMMER is represented by Totem Films.

Nastia’s film in Venice marks the third Pop Up Film Residency alumni premiere this summer, making it a standout year for the filmmakers from our worldwide family.

See you in Venice!
