CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: Slovak Pop Up 2025
An Exclusive Mentorship Opportunity for Slovak Filmmakers
Are you working on a film project and looking for expert guidance to take it to the next level? Do you dream of developing your script under the mentorship of a world-class industry professional?
This summer, Slovak Pop Up offers you a unique chance to consult your project in person with renowned French script consultant Philippe Barrière—right here in Bratislava. From July 2nd to July 4th, selected Slovak projects will receive dedicated feedback and development support from Philippe, alongside the opportunity to connect with international residents of the Pop Up Film Residency: South African writer-director Dian Weys and Brazilian producer Luiza Paiva. Extra mentor could be added depending on the profiles of the selected applications.
Whether you’re developing fiction, documentary, or animation, and whether it’s your first feature or your fifth, this program is for you.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Slovak filmmakers with a project in any stage of development—concept to rewrite—are encouraged to apply. The program is open to emerging talents as well as seasoned professionals.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUBMIT:
- A logline, short synopsis, and treatment (up to 10 pages total)
- A director’s note or project explication (max. 3 pages)
- A biography with links to previous work
- A motivation letter or video

MENTOR PHILIPPE BARRIÈRE:
Philippe Barrière is a Frech scriptwriter and consultant working for international film workshops and platforms such as the Torino Film Lab (Extended and Script Lab and Comedy Lab), Full Circle Lab Nouvelle Aquitaine-Hessen, CEFPF (development workshop) and Scénaristerie (Héroïnes). He is co-writer of the feature film Made in Bangladesh, by Rubaiyat Hossain, distributed by Pyramide and selected for the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, and On ira, Enya Baroux’s first feature film, a box office surprise of early 2025 with more than 500 000 admissions in French cinemas.
