Three talented filmmakers from diverse backgrounds have been selected to join our global network of filmmakers and benefit from personalized mentoring through a 3-week residency, made possible by our esteemed partner programs.
Pop Up Film Residency Ukraine award goes to Alina Matochkina, for her debut feature film project, “Mother.”
Alina Matochkina recently completely the feature documentary ADA that took 8 years in the making. She will have the opportunity to develop her debut during a three-week residency hosted by the producera Izabela Igel in Warsaw this July, where she will be joining residents from V4 countries. She will also participate in the Industry Activities of the New Horizons Film Festival in Wroclaw. This residency is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Visegrad Fund and Eurimages, as we aim to provide continuous support to Ukrainian filmmakers.
The Pop Up Film Residency Focus COPRO’ will provide Patricio Martinez and Francisco Canton from Argentina with a three-week residency program to further the development of their film “Amazonia.” This residency, supported by M-Films and the city of Vilnius, will take place in the summer of 2023 and will be hosted by the film producer Marija Razgute. The duo of filmmakers will have their short film « Nada de todo esto » premiering in the official competition of Festival de Cannes this week.
Last but not least, Pop Up Film Residency Projeto Paradiso is delighted to announce Daniel Bandeira, a talented Brazilian filmmaker, as its new resident. Daniel will take part in a 3-week residency in August on the captivating Faroe Islands, hosted by Jón Hammer. Together, they will explore the depths of Daniel’s project, “Red Express.” This sci-fi motorcycle chase film featuring a female delivery pilot will be Bandeira’s 3rd feature film. His second film, the thriller “Property”, premiered at the Berlinale Panorama 2023.
